WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO
Santhwanam & Karunalayam are the important milestones of the Charitable Activities in the Archdiocese of Thalassery.
Karunalayam was established in the year 1975 by Late Bishop Mar Sebastian Valloppilly for the poor & abandoned members of the society irrespective of their caste or religion. During the Golden Jubilee of the Archdiocese, the then Archbishop, Mar George Valiamattam decided to establish a palliative care centre to take care of the cancer patients & the needy. The present Archbishop, Mar George Njaralakatt, is particular about serving the poor and abandoned members of the society.
Santhwanam, has become a home for the homeless and a consolation for many. This charitable institution which was established in the year 2003, has got a new and equipped building in the year 2016. The newly built Karunalayam & Santhwanam has become an abode for many who are homeless, abandoned, sick & dying. It is a place where many experience the mercy and love of God during the last moments of their lives.
